Jeff Norris of Nuisance Wildlife RemovalJeff Norris grew up in Pataskala, Ohio and spent his free time trapping the South Fork Licking River. Jeff relocated to Florida in 1982 with his parents. He has always been an avid outdoorsman, hunting, fishing and trapping.

After moving to Florida Jeff soon realized he could no longer use the body grip or foot hold traps he was accustom to, he learned quickly that the species that he was accustomed to up north was not this far south and the trapping and game laws were much different as well; so Jeff started learning about live trapping. He started out with trapping Opossums, Squirrels and Raccoons and eventually graduated to trapping wild hogs. His Father in-law Roy Green an Animal Control Officer with Manatee County saw a need for an animal removal business that led Jeff to open North River Animal Trapping in August of 1997 located in Palmetto, Florida. Jeff was amazed at what a need there was for this type of business, and what he thought was going to be a hobby turned into to a full time career. He did all of the work on his own for about a year and a half and then became overwhelmed and hired his life long friend Matt Hunt to help out with the day-to-day pressures.

In the fall of 2000 he felt the need change the name from North River Animal Trapping to Nuisance Wildlife Removal to set a better persona of what his business was about and offered. From 2000- 2003 it was just himself, his wife, Christy, and Matt handling all the calls daily operations. One of Jeff’s fondest memories was on one of his first dates with Christy, she asked him what that smell was coming from in the back of his truck and he answered her “old sardine cans”. It is nothing for us to be out to dinner or something of the sorts and the phone rings with an animal problem and the next thing you know we are in the truck and off to a job. With the business continued growth over the past several years he opened the door for additional employees.

Nuisance Wildlife Removal now (2008) employs 11 full time employees and has several locations one in West Palm Beach, Florida an office in the Greensboro / Winston-Salem North Carolina area and the home office based in the Tampa Bay area. He has goals of opening an office in Atlanta, Georgia by the end of 2008. With the rapid growth of the company the services have also expanded from simple rat or raccoon removal to Attic restoration and critter proofing. Jeff is very active in the in the wildlife industry, he spent one year in the Nuisance Alligator program trapping nuisance alligators, he has served as region 9 director for the National Wildlife Control Operators Association and also as Vice President of the National Wildlife Management Professionals Association. Jeff feels very fortunate to have such a successful family owned and operated business. Each member of the family plays a role in is business. His wife, Christy, does the office work i.e. answering phones, scheduling appointments, and HR work, etc. Keith, his 19-year-old son, has been working and helping his dad out since the beginning of the business. And last but not least Haileigh, his 5-year-old daughter, loves being a part of the team! Jeff enjoys the career choice that he has made and looks forward to superceding the goals he has set into place & hopes to keep the business in the family for years to come.
